How to explain a Truck Driver to your child

A truck driver sits behind the wheel of a really big vehicle called a semi-truck or eighteen-wheeler. Every day, they drive long distances on highways and roads, bringing things from one place to another—like boxes of toys from a factory, fresh fruit from farms, or new books for bookstores. They check their truck before they leave to make sure the tires, brakes, and engine are working safely. Along the way, they use maps and computers to find the best route, and they talk to people at warehouses or stores when they deliver their load.

Without truck drivers, the shelves at your grocery store would be empty, and the packages that arrive at your door wouldn't make it there. They make sure families can buy the food they need, that hospitals get medicine, and that stores have clothes, toys, and all the things people use every day. When you see a big truck on the road, there's someone working hard inside to get important stuff where it needs to go.
