How to explain a Bus Driver to your child

A bus driver starts their day checking the bus to make sure everything works—lights, brakes, doors, and mirrors. Then they drive along the same route every day, stopping at bus stops to pick up passengers and let them off safely. They watch the road carefully, keep track of the time so people aren't late, and help passengers who need directions or have questions. For example, they might help someone in a wheelchair use the ramp, or remind kids to stay seated while the bus is moving.

Bus drivers help people get where they need to go—to work, to school, to the doctor, or to visit family. Without them, many people wouldn't have a way to travel across town, especially if they don't have a car. They also keep everyone safe by following traffic rules, watching for pedestrians, and staying calm even when the roads are busy. Every trip they make helps someone do something important in their day.
