How to explain a Flight Attendant to your child

A flight attendant takes care of everyone on an airplane while it flies through the sky. Before takeoff, they walk up and down the aisles checking that seatbelts are buckled and bags are stored safely in the overhead bins. During the flight, they push a cart filled with drinks and snacks, answer questions, and bring pillows or blankets to people who need them. If someone feels sick or scared, the flight attendant comes right over to help them feel better.

This work matters because flying can feel confusing or even a little scary, especially if it's your first time. Flight attendants know exactly what to do if there's turbulence (when the plane bumps around in the air) or if someone needs medicine or help. They make sure everyone gets where they're going safely and comfortably, whether that's to visit grandparents across the country or to a beach vacation. They're like helpful guides in the sky who watch over everyone on board.
