How to explain a Dermatologist to your child

A dermatologist is a doctor who takes care of people's skin, hair, and nails. Every day, they look closely at rashes, bumps, moles, and spots to figure out what's wrong. They use a magnifying glass called a dermatoscope to see tiny details, and sometimes they use a special freezing spray or a small tool to remove warts or other growths. They might see a teenager with acne, a baby with eczema, or a grandparent who needs a suspicious mole checked.

This work matters because our skin protects our whole body, like a big coat we wear all the time. When skin gets itchy, painful, or infected, it's hard to feel comfortable or play. A dermatologist helps people feel better by treating rashes that won't go away, healing infections, and catching problems early before they get worse. They help people feel more comfortable in their own skin.
