How to explain a Startup Founder to your child

A startup founder is someone who starts a brand-new company from scratch because they see a problem that needs solving. Every day they might be drawing plans on a whiteboard, talking to customers to understand what they need, meeting with a small team to figure out what to build next, or sitting at a computer writing emails to people who might help them grow. For example, if they notice that it's hard for neighbors to share tools, they might start a company that makes it easier. They use laptops, phones, notebooks full of ideas, and lots and lots of conversations to turn a big idea into something real.

This work matters because founders create new things that make everyday life a little easier or more fun. Maybe they build a way for your teacher to organize homework better, or help a farmer sell vegetables right to your kitchen, or make a toy that helps kids learn math while they play. When a founder figures out how to solve a problem, they also create jobs for other people and give them a place to work together. It's like planting a seed and helping it grow into something useful that wasn't there before.
