How to explain a Government Official to your child

A government official works in an office or meeting room, reading documents, talking with community members, and making decisions about how a town, city, or country runs. They might review plans for a new park, meet with teachers to talk about schools, or look at maps to decide where a new road should go. For example, if families complain that a street is too dark at night, a government official might work with engineers to add streetlights.
